Win 7 + H2V works for me August 26, 2010 Dain C. Hubley (Philadelphia, PA) I picked this up a year ago, to test out a newly built PC. I'm a big Xbox gamer, but I don't really play many PC games at all. Halo 2 was my first multiplayer experience, and so even though this game is a bit older it was a no brainer for me to buy.
I didn't have any installation problems like many users have seen in the past. I think Microsoft has updated/patched the game up.
I did experience some issues when I first installed Windows 7, but it was patched and I have had no problems in recent months.
Most people are claiming that there is minimal upgrades in the graphics from the Xbox version. I can't really tell a difference in the campaign, but I think that the multiplayer looks much better than the Xbox version. Seriously? Have you watched a plasma grenade explode on Midship? Definitely better.
PC version of Halo 2 - not much fun August 16, 2010 Victor Finch (TN) I love Halo 3 and enjoy playing online with the xbox. I bought Halo 2 for my laptop to have fun when on business trips. I picked up the Microsoft X-box game controller (USB) to play. The controller functionality is so poor with this game it is almost unplayable. It is over-sensitive. It is impossible to move around with any real finesse. I hate it and just about refuse to play it. I guess I could learn keyboard controls - but that defeats the point of the game to me. I wouldn't buy it again.
wicked! July 18, 2010 ? 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
single player wasnt as good as combat evolved but it has its merits such now u can arm your comrades weapons to keep them alive and the single player also includes hidden skulls to find on the legendary difficulty
limited activation sucks but they probaly are worried about pirating or game lending or over installation
multiplayer was fun and required team work and the acheivments are motivating to unlock
this is definetly a great pc game, no regrets:)
but lack of cooperative campaign sucks:(
Great Game, Difficult OS July 16, 2010 dmcblue 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Halo 2 is of course lots of fun and, as yet, the newest Halo PC users have at this point (really Microsoft?). But its for Vista. Installing on Windows 7 was an interesting experience. It took some time, several restarts and reinstallations, and some internet searching.
In the end, I think all I had to do was use the backwards compatibility settings along with turning off the internet connection on game startup. You can reconnect after the game is loaded. Its a little annoying but not especially a problem.
So its worth buying but be aware it is not just plug and play.
Great port July 1, 2010 James D. 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This game works only with Windows 7 and Vista. This port of the Xbox version is great and actually looks much cleaner than the original Xbox version. Games for Windows LIVE is utilized greatly here, you can get achievements, private chat with Xbox 360 or PC LIVE gamers, voice message, give feedback to bad players, mute players, and even see what game your friends are playing on LIVE. This game natively supports the Xbox 360 controller and even lets you use your Xbox headset for voice chat. The dedicated servers for this game is top notch. There is one review here complaining about the "agony" of signing up for a LIVE account, simply that isn't true. It's as easy as signing up for an email account or you can just import your Xbox Live gamertag (if you have one). Basically, if you already have a Microsoft email ([...], [...], [...], etc.) account, the process is even more simplified.
