Hitech - USB Data Cable and Charger for Sony PSP December 2, 2008 William Smith (Eau Claire, WI) What is this item?
Quite simply put, this item is a necessity for swapping files between your PSP and Computer. While current 2000-3000 Series are said to be able to charge from their USB port, I have yet to find my 2000 Series take a decent charge from one using a standard USB cable.
This cable offers two functions in one, eliminating the need to carry an AC adapter and USB patch cable. When plugged into the Power port and USB, this cable will allow you to charge the PSP, transfer files, or play from USB power.
The wires are long enough to connect to the MiniUSB port at the top of the PSP-2000 and the AC Power port at the bottom right. While it does reach to accommodate both ports on the system, there is not a lot of play either way and it almost feels like a tight fit. This can be useful as it allows the item a snug fit without worry one side would fall out, but a little additional room on either cord would be nice.
The only drawbacks I see is that: (1) not everyone will need to charge or swap files from a PC or PS3, (2) You need an Open USB port to charge from. Additionally, if charging from a laptop, you will drain battery power
I found this cable extremely handy and simply leave it at work. This is so I don't have to carry the AC adapter with me to work. I use my PSP as a music player in the car and occasionally for Wifi Network Maintenance at work. So having one less item in my pocket is one less thing I may forget at home or the office.
I would strongly suggest purchasing two of these, as it is quite easy to find these available for less than $4 each.

Very useful October 29, 2007 C. Thomas This is a very convenient way to recharge a PSP if you're on a computer often. It's especially useful for those with laptops.
